Changes to myspace website?

Category: Geeks r Us

This past Wednesday, there was a change to the my space website that makes this a little more difficult for us, as if it wasn't already difficult enough? Anyway, the homepage is different, and a few people have been having problems logging on. Fortunately, i have been able to log on to the website, however it is a little tricky. I'm sure some of you technology freeks have probably figured it out. The trick is to turn forms mode off before hitting enter on the "log in" link. I'm not sure how this is set up on a desktop computer, but on my laptop it is the question mark key with function key, for a better understanding of what i'm talking about. This seems to be the only way to do it. Tried routing jaws to pc, doesn't work! I'd like to complain about this eventually, but hey, I guess we gotta do what we can huh? Anyway, this seems to be what works for me. Any comments?

Apparently, this goes for all search boxes and anything like login and search. They seem to be working on it still, but who knows!

I don't see it much as a big problem if you are willing to work around it. I deleted my account a week ago because of other issues.

Haven't gone on myspace in a really long time. Too many stupid code pictures, and don't bother emailing tom he is always in away mode, so the message won't get through. O, and the cumoster service, just refers u to the FAQ. This is y I'm sticking with facebook.

LiveJournal for me here. I couldn't even sign up with Myspace because of the stupid captcha. Btw, my lj name is Theophania. I'm also on Facebook but don't use it much.

myspace was staarting to go down hill with accessibility starting with the captcha. Now you can't turn off the music in profiles, which makes my earlier myspace musisc player useless, and who else knows what else. I use facebook more.

hate myspace.

You can still turn off the music in profiles, but only if it's a song that was added through Myspace. If it's a music playlist created with another website, like mine is, then you can't unless you can see it.

As for the actual topic, it's not a very big deal. You can still log in just fine. I am a bit annoyed with the changes they've made once you're logged in, and I don't think it's been made much easier to navigate the way they say it has, but again, not much of a problem. I stil prefer it to Facebook.

How do you turn off the music.

Post 12 by cumbiambera2005 (i just keep on posting!) on Monday, 23-Jun-2008 4:34:59

I dont think you can turn off the music, but I do have an update! Apparently you can change the layout back to the old one through the account settings. it seems not too many people were happy with the changes. I am trying my best to work around these changes, but apparently with all these graphics it freezes jaws up and it's getting real hard. Think I may consider facebook after all! But anyway, about the music thing, I think that's why i'd just put one song...that never hurts! Only I will not be able to do it myself, dont think...unless someone knows how. Also, this is off topic, but about that dvd program, lan video something or other, mentioned in another board, i downloaded it and seem to like it, only my comp keeps cutting out when playing the movie. You can see it just fine but you cant hear it because it cuts out. Think i need to get my comp fixed. But anyway...that's my spill for the day.

Last I knew, there was a section under account settings, then miscellaneous, might be just called music but I don't remember, and it has a checkbox for turning off your own song and one for turning off songs on other peoples' profiles. Like I said though, it only works if it's a song added from a Myspace artist page.

Post 14 by HotPerro (I live and breathe the board) on Monday, 23-Jun-2008 14:15:01

Does anyone know how to work the flash player on the artist pages now? Jaws doesn't read the buttons any more.

Post 15 by Ukulele<3 (Try me... You know you want to.) on Wednesday, 25-Jun-2008 12:36:50

I don't like the changes on myspace much either but don't really mind them once I've gotten used to it. I don't know how to work the myspace music pages anymore so I go on playlist.com and put the songs I want on a playlist and put it up on myspace. I really hope they don't change anything having to do with the blog like adding captchas because I would hate to lose it. I just re activated my facebook account but I still love myspace better.

Post 16 by HotPerro (I live and breathe the board) on Wednesday, 25-Jun-2008 17:01:54

Ok, I think I figured it out. You have to navigate down to where the flash player starts, then route jaws to PC, and listen for the names of the songs. Once you're on the line, arrow around to where the title is, and left click on it to hear the song. Clunky, i know, but it seems to work.

Post 17 by purple penguin (Don't you hate it when someone answers their own questions? I do.) on Wednesday, 25-Jun-2008 22:04:50

I will have to try that. Sometimes the page jumps around and I lose focus.

Post 18 by HotPerro (I live and breathe the board) on Thursday, 26-Jun-2008 2:12:10

Yeah, that's the bad thing. You have to have flash players on for it to work.

Post 19 by faithful angel (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Thursday, 26-Jun-2008 3:13:56

I think I'll stick with facebook. I do have myspace though, but most of my friends are on facebook.

Post 21 by Austin (the magic fan!) on Friday, 27-Jun-2008 2:55:01

jaws has no probs for me on myspace :).

Post 22 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Friday, 27-Jun-2008 19:18:08

Ok? Um...thanks post 20? I didn't have any trouble with myspace with jaws when I had it, and still don't now that I use facebook.

Post 23 by roller (Generic Zoner) on Thursday, 03-Jul-2008 14:30:54

I hate going on myspace. It won't let me log in my password. Facebook is easier to use than myspace. Myspace is not that accessible to JAWS especially those lettered codes that you need to put in when you add a friend.

Post 24 by cumbiambera2005 (i just keep on posting!) on Monday, 08-Sep-2008 23:48:15

Well, it seems they've been able to fix the login issue, i can log on just fine now. I dont get on much. Now I do want to work on the music thing, i'll have to mess around with it, but as I said before, I dont get on much. And, also, that i know of, you dont have to enter an image thing when you add a friend, at least I have never had to!

I have a myspace page, you're all invited to check it out:
www.myspace.com/eliasricardo
For the most part, myspace is accessible, it takes a little practice, but you can do most things others can do. I had someone sighted decorate my site, but haven't we all had someone sighted give us visual help every once in a while? The flash player stuff is bad, but there are options in your account settings to help with that. If your friend makes you type letters in order to add them, or send them an email (capta) its their fault, not myspace. You get that option in your account settings to turn that off/on. You can also turn on and off the setting to play music on every persons page when first arriving. So while my space doesn't have the best accessability, there are some major work arounds, and I can live with that... for now.

Hi there,

I don't seem to be having problems logging in. I can just hit Enter on log in when I'm in forms mode. I wonder why you can't. Try again, maybe.

Post 27 by cumbiambera2005 (i just keep on posting!) on Saturday, 20-Sep-2008 16:04:14

I dont get the letter codes to type in to add a friend, I can just click on the add friend button or whatever it is. The only thing I seem to be having issues with now is just the flash player thing, but I will mess around with the account settings thing. I dont really get on that much though, unless I have friend requests or things like that. But anyway, thanks guys.

hey something I learned from a friend before I started using web vism, when you see the code when adding a friend that means that your friend you are adding requires you to before you can add them as a security measure on there part. Personally I stopped using myspace but after reading this might start again lol.
